If you’re planning to use your insurance for your counseling sessions, confirming that I accept your insurance is an important first step.

  • 1) Go to this link, which is my booking link.

    2) Fill out all information in the “Client Information” category

    3) Under “Insurance Options,” select your insurance carrier.

    4) Enter your member ID (usually found on the front of your insurance card)

    5) Click “verify coverage”

It will either come up saying your insurance is verified (accepted) or it will come up saying that it cannot be verified.

  • The most reliable way to confirm your insurance coverage for my services is to call your insurance company. To confirm that your insurance will help to cover the costs of your services, please follow these steps:

    1) Look on the back of your insurance card for a “customer service,” “member services,” or similar phone number.

    2) Call this phone number and inform them that you would like to know if the insurance company is in-network with Grow Therapy.

If they are, then I can accept your insurance, and your insurance will cover some part of the costs.

Additional questions to ask your insurance company include:

    • Is there a limit to the amount of sessions my insurance plan will cover per year?

    • If I needed more than one session a week, does my insurance plan cover that?

    • Are there any limitations on how many sessions I can have before my insurance coverage for mental health services is impacted?

  • Even if you verify that I accept your insurance, keep in mind that you may owe a fee. This usually happens for one of two reasons:

Your insurance plan has a deductible, which is an amount of money that must be paid before the insurance coverage kicks in and will cover part of the cost.

You have a copay for mental/behavioral health services, which means that even after the insurance covers X amount of the cost, you still owe Y amount for the service.

When you call your insurance company to confirm coverage, please ask about your deductible and copay for behavioral health/mental health services. This way, you can know exactly what you will be charged per session. Example questions are:

    • How much is my deductible for my insurance plan?

    • Do I have to meet my deductible before insurance coverage for behavioral/mental health services kicks in?

    • How much is my copay for mental health services?

If your copay or deductible is very high, it may be more affordable for you to pay out of pocket depending on the frequency and duration of counseling services. I charge $125 for a 55-minute session.

  • If your insurance carrier is not in network with Grow Therapy, you may still be able to save money; some insurance plans provide a level of coverage for out-of-network costs, so you may be able to be reimbursed. Visit this link to learn more.

You can call your insurance company to determine if your plan offers out-of-network coverage. Some questions you may want to ask include:

    • If I see a mental health provider who is out of network, does my plan allow any reimbursement for out-of-network services? If so, what reimbursement would be expected from a $125 counseling session?

    • Is there any documentation/paperwork required to get the reimbursement?
